The main entrance faces Downing Street, but the 8th Avenue entrance will also be open before the service.

Parking and Transportation

Drive

The church parking lot is located directly north of the building, accessible from Downing Street.

  • There are other options if the church lot is full. Overflow parking is available in the staff lot at Dora Moore School (accessible from Downing Street).

Free 2-hour street parking is available on both sides of Downing Street. On weekends the far right lane of 8th Avenue becomes a parking lane, so you can street park on 8th.

Walk

This event takes place in the highly walkable Capitol Hill neighborhood. If you live nearby, take a walk and enjoy a Christmas Eve celebration at your neighborhood church.

Bike

Sure, it’ll probably be cold! But you can still ride to church if that’s your thing!

We’ve provided a bicycle rack at the northwest corner of our building for your use.

Public Transit

RTD offers two bus routes with stops within a block of our building: Bus 6 and Bus 12. You can use RTD’s trip planner to find your best route.

What can I expect?

  • This is a classic candlelight service for Christmas Eve. We’ll sing carols and hymns, pray, hear readings from the Christian Scriptures, and listen to a short Christmas message.

Then we’ll light candles as a symbol of the light of Jesus coming into our world, spreading and flowing out through our lives.

We follow a simple liturgy rooted in the practices of historic Christianity, but the atmosphere is relaxed and informal.

  • This service will last around 1 hour.

We know lots of folks have plans, and we want to respect that. Don’t worry if you have to leave right afterwards.

But if you have time after the service, you’re welcome to hang out and enjoy cookies, hot cocoa, and even a light soup supper.

  • Kids are always welcome to be part of our worship gatherings! Activity bags will be available for kids during the service.

For families with small kids, we’ve opened a special area at the back of the sanctuary with crafts and activities for your kids. Parents can let their kids play in this overflow room and still enjoy the service.

The nursery will not be open for our Christmas Eve service.

  • Come as you are! There’s no dress code here.

Some folks might get a little dressed up to celebrate the holiday. Others will keep it casual. So dress however you’d like.

  • We’ll start a few minutes after 5pm, so if you arrive by 5 you’ll have plenty of time to find a seat, use the restroom, and get comfortable.

Doors will open at 4:30pm if you’d like to come early and enjoy our hot cocoa bar and other refreshments before the service.

  • The church parking lot is located directly north of the building, accessible from Downing Street.

Scroll up for more info on parking and transportation.

  • The main entrance is on the west side of the building, facing Downing Street.

The 8th Avenue entrance will also be open for this service.

Someone will be at the door to greet you and help you find your way.

  • Our building is an older facility with many of the accessibility challenges that that brings with it. But we are doing our best to provide a safe and accessible experience for you.

Our main entrance (the one facing Downing Street) is equipped with an automatic door opener.

A ramp will lead you from street level to the second floor, where you’ll find the sanctuary.

Accessible restrooms are available on the first floor. As someone from our welcome team to help you find your way.
