Facing the Loneliness Epidemic Together
Saturday, October 21st at 4PM
1205 E. 8th Avenue, Denver, CO 80218
Connection is a core human need. We all want meaningful relationships. But why is it so hard?
Come participate in a curated conversation on the art and science of connection. How do we make friends in the fragmented, post-pandemic age we live in?
Why is it so hard to make friends as an adult?
Have you ever wondered that? The hard truth is that the structures of modern life actually lead to disconnection. How do we resist the pull toward loneliness and isolation?
Speaker and author Becky Lahna will unpack the essential value of friendship as an antidote to loneliness. This conversation will equip us with practical tools to resist the pull towards isolation and build lasting human connections.
Stick around afterward for a free dinner (catered by Illegal Pete’s) and a chance to meet other folks in the area. Register today to reserve your place.
“Loneliness and isolation represent profound threats to our health and well-being. But we have the power to respond. By taking small steps every day to strengthen our relationships, and by supporting community efforts to rebuild social connection, we can rise to meet this moment together.”
— Dr. Vivek Murthy, Surgeon General of the U.S.

Listen, we get it. Most of the people planning this event are introverts. There will be space to interact with others. And space to ponder and reflect on your own. And you can engage how you want and in whatever way you feel comfortable.

Becky, our facilitator, brings a lot of insight into the art of friendship. We are excited to hear her unpack what we are up against as we try to cultivate connection and form friendships. But we all have our stories and experiences too. This is a great chance to learn from each other as we seek to figure out a way through this loneliness epidemic we face.

We are Nova Church, and we’re hosting this event because we believe in the power of community (whatever shape it takes), and we want to see the people of Denver flourish. The values of our faith motivate us to work to turn this loneliness epidemic around in our neighborhoods. But that’s exactly why we’ve designed this event to be accessible to anyone — no matter what they believe or don’t believe.

Nope. This event is hosted by a church community and it will take place in a church building. But we promise there isn’t a bait-and-switch, and we aren’t going to throw Jesus at you. All of us care about forming connections.
