1205 E. 8th Ave.
Denver, Colorado
Enter into the mystery and power of Jesus’ final hours on the cross.
Connect with the meaning of Good Friday as we gather to worship and reflect on the weight of Jesus’s suffering and sacrifice.
Nova Church will be hosting a traditional tenebrae service. Tenebrae is Latin for “darkness.” As we read the account of Jesus’s crucifixion and death, candles will be slowly extinguished until it is totally dark. Then we will leave in silence.
Join us for this profound experience of worship on Friday, April 18th at 7:00PM.

It might seem strange that something so horrific would be called “good.” But the Christian story claims that when we examine what this event means, for us personally and for the wider world, we’ll begin to see how this day might really be named “good.”

The main entrance is on the west side of the building, facing Downing Street.
When you arrive, a host will greet you at the main entrance and direct you to the service.

Children are always welcome in any of our worship gatherings. However, given the heavy subject matter and the physically darkened room, some children might be frightened or uncomfortable, depending on age and temperament. Parents should evaluate whether their particular child is ready for this sort of experience.
Although crucifixion was incredibly violent, we will not emphasize this violence in a grotesque way. Any verbal descriptions of Jesus’s suffering and the crucifixion are taken word-for-word from the scriptural accounts of Good Friday.
