A trail map is both a guide and an invitation. It’s a guide to follow, based on the experience and effort of others who surveyed the landscape long before we arrived on the scene. But it’s also an invitation to step onto the trail and experience beauty, wonder, and adventure for ourselves.
The Apostles’ Creed is like a trail map. As a guide, it points out a reliable path walked by past generations of Christians, from all parts of the world, who followed Jesus before us. But it’s also an invitation to step out and follow Jesus in our ordinary, everyday lives.
